Frigorífico Colonia is a specialized processor and world exporter of fresh and cooked beef. The company was first established in 1963 and is now one of the largest exporters in US Dollar terms in Uruguay, and processes approximately 75% of all the grain-fed beef in the country. Frigorifico Colonia is Ruprecht’s strategic partner in the processing sector for the "Ruprecht Natural" Beef program. The plant is one of the most modern in Uruguay and The Ruprecht Company has invested heavily in equipment in this operation. In February 2006, we jointly opened the first ever steak cutting operation in South America that exports value-added product to the North America, Asia, Middle East and Europe. Tacuarembo & PUL

Tacuarembo & PUL are located in the North of Uruguay, in the middle of the most important cattle-raising region of Uruguay and now one of the largest producing regions in the world of USDA certified Organic Beef originating from Hereford and Aberdeen Angus cattle.
The Ruprecht Company have embraced their USDA Certified Organic Beef Program and there are currently over 300 Certified Organic Ranches raising livestock for this specific Program. With almost 420.000 certified hectares (about 995.000 acres), the cattle have a vast area of green fields to grow naturally. The system employed by such ranchers can be compared to those of the US cattle industry in the 1940's, when all beef was raised in natural pastures, free-range. Tacuarembó & PUL organic beef is recognized for its flavor and tenderness and is selected for its exceptional quality and high yields.
Their cuts are known for their excellence as well as being lean, nutritious, free of hormones, antibiotics and chemical residue. Both plants are certified ISO 9001.
